Increased Nurse Involvement in MDTMs: Enhancing Patient-Centred Decision-Making in Cancer Care?

Although multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTMs) play a large role in cancer care and are designed to facilitate collaboration, nurses often not actively involved the discussions. With this paper we aim define determinants that can increase of patient-centred decision-making MDTMs. A qualitative multiple case study design with cross comparison was used. Data collection 50 structured non-participant observations, 41 semi-structured interviews participants 12 different tumour groups document analysis policy documents, hospital protocols information brochures. Three distinguished: current nurse involvement, future involvement input psychosocial This concludes here is need for increased nurses, especially complex cases.
